ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Comptosia maculipennis Macquart, 1846 ; Comptosia geometrica Macquart, 1847 ; Comptosia apicalis Macquart, 1848 .

TYPE SPECIES: Comptosia maculipennis Macquart, 1846 [= Neuria ocellata Newman, 1841 ], by subsequent designation ( Becker, 1913: 465).

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Comptosia Macquart, 1840 [ teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 252) ].

FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE .

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Ananta Meigen, 1838 .

FAMILY: TACHINIDAE .

REMARKS: Criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in Rondani (1861b). In later works by Rondani (1862d, 1868d) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “t” to “th” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in later works as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
