ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Campeneura venusta Rondani, 1856 .

TYPE SPECIES: Campeneura venusta Rondani, 1856 [= Chrysogaster frontalis Loew, 1843 ], by original designation.

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Orthonevra Macquart, 1829 [ teste Peck (1988: 140) ].

FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .

REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 12) explicitly corrected the spelling Campeneura to Campineura, but then he surprisingly maintained the original spelling Campeneura on page 163 only to go back once again to Campineura in the index (page 254). Schiner (1864: 110) used the spelling Camponeura and later (1868: 339) the spelling Campyneura, but criteria for making these names available as emendations were not found to be fulfilled in these works.

EMENDATIONS: Campineura Rondani, 1857: 12 (unjustified).
