CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Clorisoma Rondani, 1856 ; preoccupied by Swainson, 1837; junior synonym of Microchrysa Loew, 1855 . New synonymy.

FAMILY: STRATIOMYIDAE .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 11) spelled Clorisoma Rondani, 1856 as Chlorisoma , a name preoccupied by Chlorisoma Swainson, 1837 , and therefore proposed the new replacement name Chlorosia for it (see below). However, by using the changed spelling of Chlorisoma for Clorisoma, Rondani (1861e: 11) made the former name available as an emendation because this type of spelling change (from “c” to “ch”) was done for two or more names in the same work. Clorisoma Rondani, 1856 is currently treated as a junior synonym of Microchrysa Loew, 1855 [ teste Woodley (2001: 202) ].
