REMARKS: The earliest mention of Cynomya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 using the spelling “ Cynomyia ” that we have found in this study is Cynomyia Macquart (1835: 232) , as an unjustified emendation ( Evenhuis et al., 2010b: 61).

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Cyphomyia Wiedemann, 1819 using the spelling “ Cyphomya ” that we have found in this study is in Stark (1828: 385), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1863) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “myia” to “mya” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1863) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
