CURRENT STATUS: Unjustified emendation of Rhamphomyia Meigen, 1822 ; junior synonym of Rhamphomyia Meigen, 1822 . New synonymy.

FAMILY: EMPIDIDAE .

REMARKS: Name made available as an emendation by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “rh” to “r” and from “myia” to “mya” in the same work.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Rhaphium Meigen, 1803 View in CoL or subsequent usage of Raphium Latreille, 1829 .

FAMILY: DOLICHOPODIDAE .

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Rhaphium Meigen, 1803 using the spelling “ Raphium ” that we have found in this study is Raphium Latreille (1829: 472) , n. syn., as an unjustified emendation made available by similar spelling changes in two or more names from “rh” to “r” in the same work.
