ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Borborus nivalis Haliday, 1833 (as “ Limosina Nivalis Halid. ”).

TYPE SPECIES: Borborus nivalis Haliday, 1833 (as “ Limosina Nivalis Halid. ”) [= Copromyza fenestralis Fallén, 1820 ], by original designation.

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Rohaček (2001: 210) ].

FAMILY: SPHAEROCERIDAE .

REMARKS: In two separate works, Schiner (1864: 49; 1868: 228) misspelled the genus-group name as “ Pterennis ”. These actions are not emendations but have appeared in the taxonomic literature, so are recorded here for clarification.
