Genus Palaeococcus Cockerell View in CoL View at ENA
Palaeococcus View in CoL is a Palaearctic genus containing three species, one of which occurs in North Africa ( García Morales et al. 2016). Palaeococcus fuscipennis View in CoL ( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ) has been recorded from Algeria; it lives on the trunk, branches and crowns of trees in the families Fagaceae (Quercus) , Pinaceae (particularly Pinus species ) and Sapindaceae (Acer) ( Mendel et al. 1998). While it can occasionally cause heavy fouling with honeydew and sooty mould in Israel ( Mendel et al. 1991), it has not been recorded causing significant economic damage.
