Distribution. – India, Indonesia [Bali, Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Sumba], Laos, Malaysia [West Malaysia, Sarawak], Thailand ( Wewalka, 1979; Hendrich & Balke, 1995). Singapore!

Ecology. – The species prefers various types of exposed, permanent, eutrophic standing waters such as ponds, paddy fields, fish ponds, shallow lakes and slow flowing ditches. The habitat is rich in detritus and submerged vegetation. Hydaticus fabricii is often collected under lighted conditions ( Fernando, 1961).
