Type species: Decticus verrucivorus verrucivorus ( Linnaeus, 1758) .

Diagnosis. Disc of pronotum flat; median keels strongly developed and uninterrupted; hind margin rounded. Lateral lobes of pronotum with rounded lower margin. Prothorax ventrally without a pair of spines. Fore coxae armed with a fine spine. Hind tibiae with four ventral spurs. Each male cerci with an incurved tooth. Ovipositor slightly upcurved and crenulated at apex.

Redescription. Head ovoid, with smooth surface. Antennae slightly longer than body. Fastigium of vertex obtusely rounded, slightly wider than first antennal segment, connecting with frontal fastigium. Compound eyes nearly hemispherical. Male tenth abdominal tergum centrally depressed, split into two lobes at apex ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Male subgenital plate with lateral carina and shallow apical incision; stylus long, cylindrical, pointed at apex ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Female subgenital plate without conspicuous lateral carina.
