2. Genus: Rhipilia Kützing, 1858
Thallus is delicate, erect or prostrate, green to yellowish green; solitary or forming groups, consisting of bulbous appressorium; stipe is cylindrical, smooth, unbranched, small and sometimes almost imperceptible; blade is clavate, fan, cup, or funnel-shaped, with or without zonation, delicate, often torn or eroded. Thallus composed of siphons, interlaced, branched dichotomously to irregularly, constricted or not above the branches, and may show an inner ring formed by the siphon wall thickening. Tenacula arise from lateral branches or end portions in siphons, have 2–6
conspicuous projections, fixed onto adjacent siphons ensuring integrity of the thallus. Tenacula may be abundant, scarce, or absent.
