Genital field length/width 104/123, anteriorly with a knob-like extension, with three pairs of acetabula in a triangular position; gonopore narrow, 58 long, anterior margin slightly convex, flanked anteriorly by a row of 3 (2–4) pairs of setae. Length/height of P1-P5: 21/26, 72/62, 64/40, 92/22, 36/13. Length of I-leg-4–6: 104, 108, 96. Length of IV-leg- 4–6: 162, 170, 118. Legs without swimming setae.
Female: Idiosoma dorsally 486 (445–518) long and 454 (381–433) wide, ventrally 529 (486–543) long. Genital field with paired plates (100 long and 58 wide), each with three acetabula, posteriorly extending beyond post-genital sclerite. Pre-genital sclerite 68 wide, postgenital sclerite 64 wide. Length/height of P1-P5: 20/29, 78/ 73, 68/44, 98/26, 34/14; palp as in male, P3 ventrally with 5–7 denticles. Length of I-leg-4–6: 100, 114, 84. Length of IV-leg-4–6: 180, 174, 120. Legs without swimming setae.
Etymology. Named for the ventral extension of P2.
Remarks. The following Hygrobates species show similarities with the new species (in brackets the differences with the new species): H. limi Wiles, 1991 from mainland Malaysia (dentation of P3 irregular and smaller, extension of P2 more pointed) and H. henni Wiles, 2004 from Thailand (extension of P2 more pointed, P3 with more denticles, genital field indented anteriorly).
Distribution. Borneo; known only from the locus typicus.
