Diagnosis. Postocularia posterior to dgl-1; male genital field in an arc, male posterior acetabula and female middle acetabula triangular; glandular platelets in dorsal furrow relatively small.
Description. Colour yellowish. Dorsal shield with four pairs of glandularia, posteriorly slightly truncated and with a pair of setae without glandularia. Dorsal furrow with four pairs of glandularia on small platelets and three pairs of slit organs. III-leg-5 with two swimming setae, IV-leg-5 with one swimming seta.
Male: Idiosoma occasionally with an elongated reddish spot, idiosoma 518 (405–527) long and 365 (292–356) wide; dorsal shield 502 (397–512) long and 321 (247–316) wide. Postocularia slightly posterior to dgl-1. Idiosoma anteriorly wider than posteriorly or elliptical in shape. Gonopore 72 long, anteriorly pointed. Acetabula lying in an arc, posterior pair triangular. Length/height of P1-P5: 20/16, 40/26, 32/22, 66/18, 32/9. P4 and P5 elongate, P4 ventrally with a long setae. Length of I-leg-4–6: 58, 70, 52. Length of IV-leg-4–6: 58, 90, 68.
Female: Dorsal shield of one female with a large red rounded to more elongate spot. Idiosoma 474 (405–486) long and 332 (300–334) wide. Dorsal shield 468 (397–482) long and 292 (247–284) wide. Ac-2 triangular. Vgl–4 separated from ventral shield. Length/height of P1-P5: 22/14, 33/24, 32/20, 62/18, 30/9; palp as in male. Length of I-leg-4–6: 48, 60, 40. Length of IV-leg-4–6: 64, 72, 64.
Etymology. Named after the island of Borneo.
Remarks. Javalbia africana has elongated glandularia platelets in the dorsal furrow and is much smaller (length/width 300–304/167–180, Cook 1966). The new species is most similar to J. persica (data in parentheses, from Pešić et al. 2012a) but differs in a larger size (male length/width 349–359/224–236), triangular (rounded) acetabula, an anteriorly pointed (elliptical) gonopore and a more slender palp, especially P4 and P5.
Distribution. Borneo.
