Type species: P. corylophodis Thaxt. View in CoL
Adelomyces Thaxt., Memoirs of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 16: 306 ( Thaxter 1931) [MB#79]
Brief description
Probably all species are monoecious. Lower receptacle two-celled. Antheridia sessile or subsessile, on the basal cell of the primary appendage ( Fig. 11E View Fig , an); proliferating into branches in older thalli.
Remarks
The genus consists of 14 species, of which eight in Europe, two in Denmark. The most recently described species are P. mediterraneus ( Santamaria & Rossi 1999) , and P. ptilii ( Majewski 1999) . In this genus we find some of the smallest species of Laboulbeniales , with thalli not reaching 50 µm of length, like P. perparvus Santam. ( Santamaria 1992a) .
Key to the Danish species
1. Third cell of the receptacle slightly flattened to isodiametric. Appendage ramified with rather long branches; up to 250 µm long. Perithecium bent towards the appendage. On Col. – Third cell of the receptacle elongate, about twice longer than broad. Appendage unbranched; up to 180 µm long. Perithecium straight, or if bent, pointing towards the opposite direction of the appendage. On Col Staphylinidae View in CoL Euaesthetinae View in CoL .................................
