Manzonia crassa ( Kanmacher, 1798) View in CoL
( Fig. 21g View FIGURE 21 )
Material examined. (3 empty shells, in 2 samples): SPAIN • 2 sh; 42° 30.391′ N, 009° 19.517′ W GoogleMaps to 42° 29.428′ N, 009° 17.924′ W; 147–148 m; 17–28 SeP. 2004; VERTIDOS AG-EBS-150 • 1 sh; 44° 11.652′ N, 008° 58.152′ W to 44° 11.539′ N, 008° 57.574′ W; 908–1106 m; 15–24 Jul. 2008; A SELVA DRN-7 .
Remarks. As in the previous species, Manzonia crassa is very common in sublittoral bottoms from the British Islands to Morocco (not present on the Macaronesian islands) and throughout the Mediterranean ( Gofas & Oliver, 2011). Three eroded shells ( Fig. 21g View FIGURE 21 ) have been found in two of the samples likely swept by the currents away from the coast.
