Karnataka (Mysore, Belgaum, Shimoga), Lakshadeep (Agatti, Kavaratti), Odisha (Barkuda, Chilka Lake; Satkosia and Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary), Punjab, Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Coimbatore), Uttarakhand (Kumaon, Almora,
Bhimtal, Ranikhet), and West Bengal (Asansol, Darjeeling, Birbhum: Shantiniketan).
Global distribution: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
