Norrbomella Freidberg View in CoL , n. gen.
Type species: Carpomya tica Norrbom (1997: 341) , by original designation.
Norrbomella tica , the type and only included species, was originally and adequately described by Norrbom (1997) in Carpomya . However, it differs from the other species currently in Carpomya ( C. incompleta Becker , C. schineri Loew and C. vesuviana Costa) by the characters used in the key, and I therefore create a new genus for it.
Etymology: This genus is named after Allen L. Norrbom, a friend and excellent tephritidologist, who described the type and the hitherto single known species. The suffix ella is diminutive standing for a pretty fly. The gender is feminine.
