TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Tuangku Isl (west of Sumatra) .

DISTRIBUTION: Malay Peninsula, Penang Isl, Tuangku Isl, and Borneo ( Sarawak and Sabah).

SYNONYMS: malaisia.

COMMENTS: Historical allocations of canus to either Rattus or Lenothrix , as well as comparisons between L. canus and other Sundaic endemics documented by Musser (1981a-c) and Musser and Newcomb (1983).
