TYPE LOCALITY: E Peru .
DISTRIBUTION: Andes of S Colombia, through Ecuador and Peru, to WC Bolivia.
SYNONYMS: maranonicus, melanostoma, spodiurus, stolzmanni .
COMMENTS: Karyotype reported by Gardner and Patton (1976) as Oryzomys longicaudatus variant (4). As discussed by Hershkovitz (1940:81), Tschudi's specimens may have originated from haciendas along the Rio Chinchao, Huanuco Dept., Peru, 900-1000 m.
