Diagnosis. Females of this species resemble X. cerrado and X. pirassunangaensis by sharing the same length of the dorsal setae and the shape of the ventral apodemes. It differs from both by having a shorter and narrower tegula, by the absence of a pair of carinae anterior to the tegula and by having the dorsal setae v1, sc2, d and f smooth, while they are serrate in X. cerrado and X. pirassunangaensis . Females of this species also resemble those of X. brachytegula by having a small and pointed tegula reaching the basis of femorogenu IV, but it differs by the absence of a pair of carinae anterior to the tegula, and by having the length of dorsal setae d, e, f and h, longer than X. brachytegula .
Adult Female (3 specimens measured)
Gnathosoma: capsule subtriangular, length 25, 25, maximum width 25, 25; dorsal apodeme distinct. Setae dgs 5, 5 and vgs 4, 5 (4 – 5), smooth; setae pp not observed. Palpi with 2 subterminal setae and terminal cone-shaped structures. Pharynx fusiform, 14, 15 (14 – 15) long and 7, 6 (6 – 7) wide at widest region.
Idiosoma—dorsum ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ): length 160, 161 (158 – 164), width at level of c1 118, 119 (118 – 120), prodorsal shield covering more than half of gnathosoma. Stigmata posterolaterad setae v1 bases. Lengths of setae: v1 22, 22 (20 – 23), sc 1 15, 14 (13 – 16), sc 2 29, 30 (28 – 31), c 1 22, 22 (21 – 23), c 2 18, 17 (17 – 18), d 22, 22 (20 – 22), e 20, 20, f 18, 19 (17 – 20), h 21, 21 (20 – 21). All setae smooth, except setae e and h serrate. Distances between dorsal setae: v1– v 1 28, 29 (28 – 30), sc1–sc1 44, 46 (44 – 46), sc–sc2 54, 55 (53 – 55), v1 –sc 2 19, 20 (18 – 20), c1–c1 74, 70 (70 – 75), c2–c2 100, 95 (95 – 100), c1–c2 35, 35 (33 – 36), d–d 34, 35 (34 – 35), f–f 16, 16 (16 – 17), e–f 23, 24 (23 – 25), h–h 48, 50 (48 – 52).
Idiosoma – venter ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ): Coxisternal setae 1a 8, 9 (8 – 9), posterior middle of apodeme 1, vestigial setae 1b not observed; 2a 10, 10 (9 – 10), near anterior end of apodeme 2, vestigial setae 2b inserted near bases of coxae of leg II; 3a 13, 12 (11 – 13), near anterior end of apodeme 3; 3b 6, near proximal extremity of apodeme 4. Apodeme 1 conspicuous, fused to anterior end of prosternal apodeme. Apodeme 2 not fused to prosternal apodeme. Prosternal apodeme conspicuous and fused to sejugal apodeme. Sejugal apodeme uninterrupted. Apodeme 3 extending diagonally from bases of setae 3a to anterior margin of trochanter III. Apodeme 4 diffuse, with conspicuous intermediate section, extending diagonally from anterior third of poststernal apodeme to bases of setae 3b. Poststernal apodeme conspicuous and bifurcated anteriorly, diffuse in middle region, with median nodule. Coxisternal plates smooth. Tegula narrow, short and pointed 8, 8 (7 – 8) long and 4, 4 (4 – 5) wide, without anterior carinae. All ventral setae smooth.
Legs ( Figs. 15 – 18 View FIGURES 15 – 18 ): lengths (femur to tarsus): leg I 50, 50 (49 – 52), leg II 56, 58 (56 – 61), leg III 85, leg IV 34 (32 – 34). Number of setae (solenidia in parentheses) on femur, genu, tibia and tarsus, respectively: Leg I: 4-4-6(2)- 8(1), leg II: 3-3-4-6(1), leg III: 1+3-4-5, setae pv” not observed. Tarsal solenidion ω of tibiotarsus I 6, 6 (6 – 7), cylindrical and elongate, narrow near base. Sensory cluster of tibia I complete, solenidion ϕ1 3, 3 slender, capitate; solenidion ϕ2 3, 3, fusiform and stout; famulus ĸ 3, 3. Setae d of tibia I 17, 17, serrate. Solenidion ω of tarsus II 5, 5 long, cylindrical and slightly elongate, narrow near base; setae pl” 6, 7 (5 – 7), spine-like and stout, inserted on middle of tarsus II. Setae d of tibia II 9, 10 (9 – 10) smooth. Femorogenu IV 25, 25 (24 – 26), tibiotarsus IV 6, 5 (5 – 7). Lengths of setae of leg IV: v’F 9, 9, v’G 9, 9, v’Ti 26, 26 (26 – 27) and tc” 48, 50 (48 – 52), all setae smooth.
Adult male and larval instars. Unknown.
Type material. Holotype and two paratypes from Cecropia glaziovi (Urticaceae) , Matão, State of São Paulo, Brazil, 4/IV/2008. All deposited at DZSJRP. All types are females.
Etymology. The species name luziae refers to the first author grandmother’s name, Luzia.
