Holotype ♂ in Spencer Entomological Collection , Beaty Biodiversity Museum , University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada ( T. D. Galloway pers. comm. 2012).
Type host: Phalaropus lobatus ( Linnaeus, 1758) .
Galápagos host: Phalaropus lobatus ( Linnaeus, 1758) . Galápagos locality: Isla Isabela. Galápagos references: This paper. Other significant reference: Clay (1959: 165, 167). Material examined: 1 male and 1 female (1 sample, MONZ). Remarks: This is the first record of Austromenopon spenceri from the Galápagos Islands. Currently, Phalaropus lobatus is the only host of this louse species ( Price et al. 2003: 92), and is a very common visitor to the
Galápagos Islands ( Harris 1989: 107).
