Holotype ♂ in NHML.

Type host: Phoebastria irrorata (Salvin, 1883) .

Galápagos host: Phoebastria irrorata (Salvin, 1883) .

Galápagos locality: Isla Española.

Material examined: 64 males, 50 females and 10 nymphs (7 samples, MONZ, NHML) .

Remarks: At present, Perineus oblongus is endemic to the Galápagos Islands, although the population of Phoebastria irrorata breeding on Isla La Plata, near the coast of Ecuador, may also harbour this louse.
