Monoblastus nigriventus Lee & Cha, 1993 View in CoL
( Figs 3 View FIGURES 3–6 , 7–11, 13 View FIGURES 7–10 View FIGURES 11–14 )
Lee & Cha 1993: 20 (in key: “ M. nigriventris sp. nov. ”, nom. praeocc, non Strobl, 1901), 21 (in description: “ Monoblastus nigriventus sp. nov. ”; holotype ♂ (YNU), South Korea, GW, “Mt. T’aebaeksan, 13-V-1991, coll. J.Y. Cha”; 12 ♂ (paratypes), GG, Gwacheon-si, Makgye-dong, Mt. Chonggyesan, 25.IV.1984, coll. J.W. Lee). Lee & Cha 1996: 165.
Material examined. South Korea: 1 ♂ (holotype, YNU) GW, “Mt. T’aebaeksan, 13-V-1991, coll. J.Y. Cha ” ; 1 ♂ (paratype, ZIN) GG, Mt. Chonggyesan , 25.IV.1984, coll. J.W. Lee (ZIN).
Remarks. Monoblastus nigriventus is closely related to M. ermolenkoi Kasparyan, 1987 described from Russian Kuril Islands (Iturup I.), and may represent a geographical variation of the latter species. Both species can be easily distinguished from other East Palaearctic congeners by coarse and dense punctures on vertex and gena
( Figs 3 View FIGURES 3–6 , 7 View FIGURES 7–10 , 13 View FIGURES 11–14 ), distinctly pectinate tarsal claws ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–10 ), and obtuse apices of mandibular teeth ( Figs 13, 14 View FIGURES 11–14 ), but the last character is stronger in M. ermolenkoi ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 11–14 ).
