Xenophora sp. — Ávila et al. 2015b: 67.
Xenophora sp. — Dávid et al. 2021: 5.
Xenophora sp. — Ávila et al. 2022: 81.
Santa Maria material examined. Maximum height 70.0 mm, diameter 147.0 mm. Large internal mould Casa dos Fósseis Museum, Santa Maria (collection Dalberto Pombo). Figueiral; several internal moulds from LNEG collection (unnumbered); several internal moulds seen in situ in Baía de Nossa Senhora, Vinhas do Sul, Santa Maria Island, Azores, Touril Complex, Lower Pliocene.
Discussion. Several large internal moulds of Xenophora have been found from several outcrops around Santa Maria. We cannot indicate which species they represent, but the genus is relatively thermophilic, and species with large specimens are associated with fully tropical environments.
Distribution. Lower Pliocene: Atlantic, Santa Maria Island, Azores ( Ávila et al. 2015 b, 2022; David et al. 2021).
