Diagnosis. Body fusiform; gnathosoma normal, projecting downwards, dorsal pedipalp genual setae (d) normal; prodorsal shield lobe present, scapular tubercles and setae (sc) absent; coxae setae 1b, 1a and 2a present; femoral setae present on both legs, leg II with genual seta absent, tibial setae absent from both legs, empodium simple; opisthosoma differentiated into broad dorsal annuli and narrow ventral annuli, with a wide median ridge; opisthosoma with all usual series of setae.
Remarks. The genus Latitudo is distinguished from other genera of the tribe Calacarini by having an opisthosoma with three ridges, the middorsal ridge wide and ending with lateral ridges, opisthosoma narrowed abruptly posteriorly, genu II seta absent, and tibial setae absent from both legs. It is similar to the genus Calacarus Keifer, 1940 because they both have three opisthosomal ridges, the middorsal ridge ending with lateral ridges.
