Type locality. South Africa, Eastern Cape, Pirie Forest.

Endrödy-Younga, 15933254 ♀♀, partly stored in alcohol ( TMSA, JJRC) GoogleMaps ; Cape, Amatole, Isidenge , block B1, 32.41 S – 27.14 E, indig. logs & fungi, 15.xi.1987, E-Y: 2514, leg. Endrödy-Younga, 1♀ ( TMSA) GoogleMaps ; Cape, Pirie Forest Station , 32.43 S – 27.17 E, indigenous forest litter, 8.xii.1987, E-Y: 2560, leg. Endrödy-Younga, 3033, 32♀♀ ( TMSA, JJRC) GoogleMaps .
Distribution. Octavius piriensis has been recorded from Pirie and Isidenge Forest.
Note. Aedeagi of all series are identical with types (see Fig. 14 View Figs in JANÁK 2007).
