Type species: Rhaphidophora picea Serville (= loricata), by subsequent designation.
Generic diagnosis. Body medium sized. Vertex of head divided into two flat tubercles by a longitudinal furrow. Lateral ocelli widely spaced. Legs slender, hind femora longer or almost equal to hind tibiae (in Aemodogryllinae : hind femora obviously shorter than hind tibiae). Fore femora with an elongate movable spur on the internal genicular lobe. Mid femora with 1 elongate movable spur on both internal and external genicular lobes. Fore tibiae and mid tibiae armed ventrally. Mid tibiae also armed dorsally. Hind tibiae with 2 rows of spines, arrange sparsely. Tarsi compressed. Hind metatarsi with several small spines dorsally. Abdominal tergites without processes. Male epiproct somewhat specialized with various shapes.
