Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 12B View FIGURE 12 ). Wingspan 12.5−14.0 mm. This species has a brownish forewing marked with dark fuscous streaks and patches, but the ground coloration can be darker and the markings are sometimes indistinct. The male labial palpi of T. scioplecta show typical characteristics of the species group, which has long segment I and short segment II bearing expansible hair pencil dorsally. The hair pencil from segment II almost reaches the basal 2/3 of segment III. The male genitalia ( Fig. 36F View FIGURE 36 ) are very similar to those of T. obvoluta Meyrick (not included in this study; see Clarke 1969: plate 231, fig. 2), but the anellus lobe is stouter and the aedeagus is more pointed at apex in T. scioplecta . The female genitalia ( Fig. 53D View FIGURE 53 ) are diagnosed by the long ductus bursae coiled in anterior 1/3 and the small corpus bursae with a round signum situated near the posterior margin.
Variation. The specimens from China are darker than those from India. The wing pattern can be indistinct.
Distribution. China (Yunnan), India.
Remarks. Non-type specimens from the type locality (Assam of India) were dissected and illustrated by the first author during a visit to NHMUK. This species is recorded from China for the first time.
