Diagnosis. Ancylosis delicatella is a rather variable species ( Figs 44–49 View FIGURES 44–58 ). Light brown forewing with (or without) three transverse dark pink fasciae and pink apex in combination with light costal margin are characteristic. The specimens with reduced pink pattern can be confused with worn specimens with reduced brown markings of A. amseli but labial palps of the latter are broader, gradually curved (rather than nearly straight) and weaker protruded over the head (distinctly protruded in A. delicatella ). Additionally, A. amseli has no cilia on the male antennae. Ancylosis hellenica (Staudinger, 1870) is brighter, more contrasting, and has distinctly angulated (rather than straight) subterminal pink fascia ( Figs 56, 57 View FIGURES 44–58 ) and shorter cilia (1/3 of flagellum width in contrary to nearly 1/ 2 in A. delicatella ) on the male antennae. Ancylosis larissae is nearly indistinguishable externally ( Figs 50–55 View FIGURES 44–58 ) but has shorter (1/3 width of flagellum) cilia on the male antennae. Ancylosis deserticola differs in the narrower, more elongated forewing and has very short cilia (about 1/5–1/6 width of flagellum) on the male antennae. The male genitalia of A. delicatella ( Figs 59–62 View FIGURES 59–66 ) are extremely similar to those of A. rhodochrella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1852) , A. hellenica and A. larissae , but can be separated from two latter by presence of a small apical projection of aedeagus wall, and additionally from A. hellenica ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 59–66 ) by a longer and weaker medially inflated aedeagus. Ancylosis rhodochrella is very similar to A. delicatella in having aedeagus usually with distinct apical hump, however the aedeagus of the latter is longer, extending from base of saccus to about 2/3–3/4 length of uncus (extending to 1/3 length of uncus in A. rhodochrella ) ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 59–66 ). These species can be reliably separated by the shape of transtilla processes, which are distinctly bulged on outer margin in A. delicatella but straight in A. rhodochrella . Basally broadened ductus seminalis in the female genitalia is a character for separating A. delicatella from A. hellenica ( Figs 69, 70 View FIGURES 67–70 ).
Remarks. Anerastia delicatella was described from a single female collected in Sarepta: “Sarepta, coll. Erschov”. The label data of the holotype were published ( Sinev 1990: 127). Ancylosis rhodochrella was described based on single female from Amasia ( Turkey). The synonymy of these species was initially proposed by Wocke (1861), then by Roesler (1973: 424) and finally confirmed by Sinev (1990: 127). We examined a female that bears the same label as the holotype of A. delicatella and three males and three females from Sarepta (see under Material examined). Both adults and genitalia of these specimens differ considerably from those of A. rhodochrella , which type specimen and other material have been studied by us (see below under that species). Hence, we re-call A. delicatella from the synonymy with the latter species: A. delicatella ( Möschler, 1860) spec. rev., stat. nov.
Ancylosis ciliella ( Amsel, 1961) was described based on a male and a female from Keredj ( Iran). Type specimens differ well externally ( Figs 44, 45 View FIGURES 44–58 ) and in the genitalia ( Figs 60 View FIGURES 59–66 , 68 View FIGURES 67–70 ) from A. rhodochrella but match in all details A. delicatella . Hence, the following synonymy is established: Ancylosis ciliella ( Amsel, 1961) syn. nov. of Ancylosis delicatella ( Möschler, 1860) .
The female genitalia of A. delicatella are described here for the first time.
Female genitalia of A. delicatella ( Figs 67, 68 View FIGURES 67–70 ). Papillae anales subtriangular, densely covered with long hairs; apophysis posterioris straight, as long as anterior apophyses and twice as long as the length of segment VIII; segment VIII twice as broad as long, tergum VIII evenly sclerotized, anterior margin nearly straight, sternum VIII with broad anteromedial emargination, posterior margin straight; ductus bursae short, slender, antrum broad, funnel-shaped, slightly longer than length of ductus bursae, ductus seminalis broad at the base, arises from the first 1/3 of ductus bursae; corpus bursae slightly longer than combined length of papillae anales, segment VIII and ductus bursae, pear-shaped, narrowed posteriorly, numerous long thorn-shaped signae with rounded base in basal 1/3 and about 20 shorter signae in middle 1/3 of corpus bursae.
Distribution. Russia (Volgograd and Astrakhan regions), Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan (first record), Azerbaijan (first record), Turkey ( Amsel 1961; Roesler 1973; Sinev et al. 2019).
