Lomachaeta vianai Casal 1969:34 . Holotype Ψ, ARGENTINA, Misiones, Dep. Concepción, Sta. Maria, X.1965, M. J. Viana (AMNH).
Diagnosis. This species differs from North and Central American species by not having the pronotal spiracles tuberculate. Differs from L. ibarrai by having the scape shorter than the following four flagellomeres combined, the propodeal spiracle not prominently tuberculate, apical margin of metasomal tergites 2–4 with decumbent spines that are only slightly stouter than surrounding setae.
Distribution. Known only from the holotype.
Remarks. The holotype was the only material examined. The holotype is located at the AMNH. The holotype is mounted on a card, such that the ventral surface of the specimen could not be examined. A label bearing the words “s/termites ” (with termites) is located beneath the locality label. It is doubtful that there is any biological significance to this observation as stated by Casal (1969), because all of the known hosts for Mutillidae are holometabolous insects.
