Distribution: — India (Andaman, Nicobar Islands), Sri Lanka, Burma, China, Japan (Ryukyu), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia (Peninsular, Sabah), Philippines (Luzon, Palawan, Mindanao), Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Sulawesi), Papua New Guinea, Thailand (Northern, North-Eastern, Eastern, South-Western, South-Eastern, Peninsular).

Ecology: —Dry evegreen forest and moist evergreen forest in shaded places at an elevation of 200‒1000 m. Flowering in November‒January and fruiting in February‒ April.

Notes: —In Thailand, Lasianthus verticillatus is similar to L. chinensis and L. chrysoneurus . It differs from L. chinensis by having a cupular truncate calyx (not elongated campanulate calyx with 4‒6 orbicular reflexed lobes), glabrous drupes (not drupes pubescent with longitudinal angles) and mostly 4–5 (not 5–6) pyrenes. Among these, the calyx character is the suitable separate them. Lasianthus verticillatus differs from L. chrysoneurus by having coriaceous (not membranaceous) leaf blades and lacking (not persistent) bracts and a calyx that is cupular truncate (not calyx campanulate with 4‒6 triangular lobes).
