Ecology:― Evergreen forest at an elevation of up to 50‒ 800 m.

The name was transferred to Saprosma by Zhu (2001) and to Paralasianthus by Zhu (2015). Based on molecular evidence Tagane (2015) transferred the species back to Lasianthus , and corrected Craib’s (1933) mistake by renaming it as Lasianthus viridiramulis .
