Notes: ―The morphological characters of the specimens cited above match Korthals’ description of L. chrysoneurus . Some specimens identified as L. kurzii Hook. f. (1880:183) in a previous revision of Thai Lasianthus ( Zhu 2001) are here referred to L. chrysoneurus . Zhu et al. (2012) noted that the type of L. chrysoneurus mentioned in the protologue ( Korthals 1851) should be found in L. Miquel (1857) had indicated that when making his combination. The type in the L herbarium had disappeared so Zhu et al. (2012) neotypified L. chrysoneurus with the collection C. A. Backer 22515 (L).

Lasianthus chrysoneurus is close to L. obscurus (Blume ex Candolle) Miquel (1857:317) from which it differs in indument characters; Lasianthus chrysoneurus has appressed pubescent branches, branchlets, abaxial leaf surface, stipules, bracts, and calyx, whereas L. obscurus is appressed pubescent on those organs especially on the fresh fruit surface of living plants which can easily be observed in the field. From our field survey it appears that L. chrysoneurus can be found more easily than L. obscurus in natural forests and protected areas.
