T hailand: ―NORTHERN. Chiang Mai: Jom Thong district, 6 September 1992, J. F. Maxwell 92-503 (BKF, CMUB, L). NORTH-EASTERN. Khon Kaen: Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, 7 November 1984, G. Murata et al. T-41665 (BKF, L), 7 November 1984, G. Murata et al. T-41666 (BKF, L).

Distribution: —Endemic to Thailand (Northern, North-eastern).

Ecology: —Evergreen forest, hill evergreen forest, in shaded places at an elevation of 900‒1000 m. Flowering in November‒December and fruiting in December‒January.

Notes: ― Lasianthus ellipsoideus was first recorded for Thailand by Zhu (2002) who differentiated this species from the closely related L. fordii Hance (1885:324) . Lasianthus ellipsoideus has densely pubescent branches (not mostly glabrous), living plants with a densely purplish hirsute calyx (not glabrous or thinly hirsute), calyx lobes equal to or longer than calyx tube (not shorter than calyx tube), and drupes ellipsoid and pubescent (not globose and glabrous).
