Notes: ― Lasianthus coronatus was recorded as new to Thailand based on a specimen previously misidentified as L. politus Ridley var. insularis Craib (1934:216) at L (Zhu 2002). Lasianthus politus var. insularis is obviously different from the typical variety by leaf and bract-characters but similar to L. coronatus King & Gamble. Thus , L. politus var. insularis was reduced to synonym. The morphological characters of the isotype at K together with the original description, show that L. politus var. insularis is similar to L. coronatus which matched in previous taxonomic remarks that reported by Zhu (2002).
The type specimen of Lasianthus coronatus is similar to L. attenuatus but it differs in having coriaceous leaf blades (not membranaceous), glabrous adaxial leaf surface, tomentose abaxial leaf surface (not sparely tomentose on both side), leaf base cuneate to subrounded (not cordate and slightly oblique), stipules inconspicuous (not stipules conspicuous and permanent), bracts linear 5‒8 mm long (not linear to lanceolate 6‒15 mm long) and drupes subglobose and tomentose (not globose or ovoid with sparely hirsute).
