Distribution: — China, Japan (Amami, Kyushu, Ryukyu), Cambodia, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia (Sumatra), Thailand (North-Eastern, Eastern, Peninsular).
Ecology: —Grows on granitic soil or along streams in evergreen forest at an elevation of 100‒1250 m.
Notes: ―In Thailand, in the field Lasianthus curtisii may look like L. lucidus Blume (1826:997) but it differs by leaf and calyx characters: Lasianthus curtisii has subcoriacious, ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate leaves with 4‒6 pairs of lateral veins, and the calyx divided nearly to the base into 5 lanceolate lobes. Lasianthus lucidus , in contrast, has mostly membranaceous, ovate or ovate-elliptic leaves with 3‒4 pairs of lateral veins, and the calyx widely campanulate with 5 lanceolate lobes.
