Notes: ― Lasianthus fordii is similar to L. lucidus but it differs by having leaves ovate-lanceolate to ovate-oblong 6‒10 × 3‒5 cm, leaf blades chartaceous, mostly with the calyx lobes shorter than the tube. L. lucidus has leaves ovate to ovate-elliptic 4‒9 × 1.5‒3 cm, leaf blades mostly coriaceous, and calyx lobes longer than or equal to the tube. Additionally, some characters of L. fordii as seen on herbarium sheets are similar to L. ellipsoids , but it differs from L. fordii in having densely pubescent branches and calyx lobes that are equal to or longer than the calyx tube, while L. fordii has glabrous to thinly appressed-pubescent branches and calyx lobes shorter than the tube.
