Ecology: —Evergreen forest in shaded places at an elevation of 50‒ 900 m. Flowering in July‒October and fruiting in November‒February.
Notes: ― Lasianthus hirsutus is different from other Lasianthus by having very large and leaf-like inflorescence bracts. In the past, Lasianthus hirsutus was confused with L. cyanocarpus because they both have similar leaf-like bracts. However, Lasianthus hirsutus differs from L. cyanocarpus by having: larger leaves 13‒20 × 5‒6 cm with cuneate base (not small leaves 8–15.5 × 2.5–5 cm with cordate base); slightly unequal base (not oblique); relatively long petioles 1‒1.5 cm (not 2 mm long);conspicuous triangular stipules (not inconspicuous linear); calyx obconical densely long-hirsute (not campanulate and tomentose); drupes mosly globose, sparsely hirsute with 5 pyrenes (not drupes ovoid, sparsely pilose with 4 pyrenes);usually hirsute drupes (not tomentose).
