Ecology: —Evergreen forest, hill evergreen forest, and moist evergreen forest in shaded places at an elevation of 200‒1200 m. Flowering in July‒October and fruiting in November‒January.
Notes: ―In Thailand, Lasianthus lucidus is similar to L. fordii but differs by having small ovate to ovate-elliptic leaves, 4‒9 × 1.5‒3 cm (not 6‒10 × 3‒5 cm), leaf blades membranaceous (not chartaceous), calyx lobes lanceolate, 2‒3 mm long and longer than calyx tube, 1 mm long (not calyx lobes, 0.5‒0.8 mm long and mostly shorter than calyx tube, 1‒1.5 mm long). From the study of the type specimens of L. lucidus var. inconspicuous (Hook.f.) Zhu (1998:154) and L. lucidus var. flavohirsutus Zhu (2001:135) , both species are not obviously separated from L. lucidus var. lucidus . The two varieties differ slightly from the type of L. lucidus by their leaf shape (ovate-elliptic and elliptic) and a smaller number of secondary veins, which is an unstable character, as observed in the studied specimens. Lasianthus lucidus var. inconspicuous could therefore be be the same as L. lucidus var. lucidus .
