Species composition. Seventeen South American species, namely: Fernandezina acuta Platnick, 1975 ; F. andersoni Cala-Riquelme & Agnarsson, 2018 ; F. angeloi sp. nov., F. dasilvai Platnick, Grismado & Ramírez, 1999 ; F. divisa Platnick, 1975 ; F. eduardoi Cala-Riquelme, Quijano-Cuervo & Sabogal-Gonzáles, 2018 ; F. fernandoi sp. nov.; F. grismadoi Martínez & Gutierrez, 2021 ; F. ilheus Platnick, Grismado & Ramírez, 1999 ; F. jurubatiba Castro, Baptista, Grismado & Ramírez, 2015 ; F. maldonado Platnick, Grismado & Ramírez, 1999 ; F. nica Ott & Ott, 2014 ; F. pelta Platnick, 1975 ; F. pulchra Birabén, 1951 ; F. saira Buckup & Ott, 2004 ; F. takutu Grismado, 2002 ; F. tijuca Ramírez & Grismado, 1996 .

Distribution. Known from Argentina ( Formosa), Bolivia (Santa Cruz), Brazil (Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo), Colombia (Atlántico, Bolívar, Boyacá, Caquetá, Sucre), Guyana (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and Peru (Madre de Dios) (see Fig. 1 ).
