Ancistrus gibbiceps Kner 1854: 284 View in CoL , pl. 5 (fig. 2). Type locality: aus dem Rio Negro bei Marabitanos [ Brazil]. Holotype: at NMW. Originally proposed as Anc. gibbiceps View in CoL .

Liposarcus altipinnis Günther 1864: 239 View in CoL . Type locality: Rio Cupai [ Brazil]. Holotype: BMNH 1853.3 .19.34.

Native Distribution: Middle and upper Amazon and Orinoco basins ( Weber 2003).

Remarks: Redescribed in Weber (1992:17), with type locality of Liposarcus altipinnis as: Cupari River, Tapajós River basin, Amazon drainage, Amazonas State, Brazil.
