Diagnosis: Head slightly wider than mesonotum; lateral ocelli raised on tubercles; anteorbital tubercles present as tubercles in front of lateral ocelli; a prominent ridge along each side of coronal suture; genal processes conical, 0.3–0.9 times as long as vertex ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 28 – 36 ). Antennae 2.1–4.4 times longer than head width; segment 8 the longest; terminal setae subequal, longer than segment 10. Clypeus with a pair of long setae and a group of shorter ones. Forewing obovate, broadly rounded apically; pterostigma and costal break present; vein Cu1a strongly arched so that cell cu1 tall; radular spinules forming narrow patches ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 47 – 58 ). Meracanthus prominent, pointed; metatibia with genual spine and 1+3+1 apical spurs; metabasitarsus with 2 apical spurs. Male proctiger and aedeagus lobed ( Crawford 1914; Brown & Hodkinson 1988).
Biology and damage: Immatures are free-living ( Brown & Hodkinson 1988) and secrete wax filaments ( Palmer & Pullen 2001). Mitrapsylla albalineata Crawford is considered a potential weed control agent for Senna obtusifolia (Fabaceae) , commonly found infesting terminal leaves ( Palmer & Pullen 2001).
Host-plants: Fabaceae ( Ouvrard 2017) .
Distribution: Neotropic and Neartic regions ( Ouvrard 2017).
