Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–8 ) wingspan 16.0–23.0 mm. This species is similar to C. brevistrigella ( Caradja, 1932) and C. nigripunctella ( Leech, 1889) superficially. Calamotropha brevilinella can be distinguished from C. brevistrigella by the forewing white between the medial and subterminal fasciae, in the male genitalia by the uncus shorter than the gnathos, the valva rounded at apex and the vesica with two spiniform cornuti ( Figs 32, 32a View FIGURES 29–33 ); in C. brevistrigella , the forewing is ocherous between medimedial and subterminal fasciae, the uncus is longer than the gnathos, the distally bifurcated valva has two apical spines and the vesica has two rows of small spine-like cornuti ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 29–33 ). Calamotropha brevilinella can be distinguished from C. nigripunctella by the gnathos without a process, and the phallus shorter than the valva; in C. nigripunctella , the gnathos has a triangular dorsal process at distal 1/3, and the phallus is longer than the valva ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 40–45 ). The female genitalia is characterized by the heavily sclerotized, elongate, subaequilate antrum ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 51–55 ).

Distribution. China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Sichuan).

Variations. The uncus is usually obtuse at apex, but in some specimens it is bifurcated at apex ( Fig. 32a View FIGURES 29–33 ).
