Genus Hexapleomera Dudich, 1931 View in CoL
Diagnosis: Pereonites 1 to 3 short, together shorter than wide; pleon with five distinct pleonites, pleonites 1 and 2 without dorsal rows of plumose setae. Both mandibles with lacinia mobilis and adjacent seta; maxillule endite with eight distal spines, palp with four to eight distal setae; labial palp present, distinct, rounded. Pereopod 1 with or without apophysis on coxa; third pair of pleopods with slightly reduced setation in comparison with first and second pair; uropods four- or five-segmented, distal segment not significantly shorter than subdistal segment. Sexual dimorphism pronounced in the male cheliped, with strongly arcuate dactylus with or without spinules along cutting edge; male antennule and antenna longer and more slender than those of female.
Type-species: Tanais robustus Moore 1894 .
