Etymology. Dedicated to Dr. Arthur Neiva, who was the first to study this important group of hematophagous insects together, and to whom we owe some fundamental studies on the subject ( Lent & Martins 1940: 877).
Original citation. “Dedicada ao Dr. Arthur Neiva, o primeiro a estudar, em conjunto, tão importante grupo de insetos hematófagos e a quem devemos trabalhos básicos sobre o assunto” ( Lent & Martins 1940: 877).
