This species occurs in lower elevations of South Africa and Mozambique, close to the coast of the Indian Ocean. Some males have been attracted in the late morning hours using artificial pheromones. Zhang (1994) mentions sweet potato ( Ipomoea batatas ) as hostplant of this species as well.
