Turdus nigriceps Cabanis View in CoL
Turdus nigriceps Cabanis, 1874: 97 View in CoL .
Now: Turdus nigriceps nigriceps Cabanis, 1874 View in CoL . See Hellmayr (1934: 410).
Type series: Cabanis (1874: 97) based this species on one or more males, but Taczanowski (1875: 503) stressed that he received from Jelski only one specimen of this species. This specimen, which is thus the holotype of this species, has been deposited in the MIZ ( Taczanowski 1889: 9, Sztolcman & Domaniewski 1927: 155, Mlíkovský 2009b).
Holotype: MIZ 34329 (SD P.2796), 3, collected by Jelski on 7 August 1871 at "Soriano, Huanta" [= Soriano, Peru].
Type locality: "Soriano, Huanta" ( Sztolcman & Domaniewski 1927: 155), i.e. Soriano, Peru. This locality was not located (see also Vaurie 1972, Stephens and Traylor 1983), but presumably was situated between Maraynioc [11.37°S, 75.40°W] and Chilpis [11.27°S, 75.36°W], Peru.
