Remarks

Wittmer (1995) commented that this species had shorter and broader antennae which were different from those of all other Themus species , but other characters matched the diagnosis of this genus. However, Švihla (2008) redescribed the subgenera of Themus , he suggested that this species be excluded from the nominate subgenus, and proposed that it could belong to Gallerucocantharis or to a new subgenus. Judging from the appearance, especially of the distinctive pronotum, elytra and tarsal claws, this species is definitely related to C. laticorne . Although the antennae are not flattened but thickened, this character is varied within one genus, such as Lycocerus . Also, this species is related to the following new species, C. gracilicornis sp. nov., except the thickened antennae, and transverse pronotum with posterior margin emarginated in the middle ( Figure 1C,D View Figure 1 ), its aedeagus (Figure B–E) is similar to the latter. Above all, the three species share some common characteristics in the morphology of their appearance and aedeagus, so it is confirmed that they are of the same genus.
