( Figs 5–6 View FIGURES 1–6 )
Tachina consobrina Meigen, 1824: 248 . Syntypes, males and females (MNHN, not examined). Type locality: not given, probably Germany, Stolberg? ( Herting 1984: 105; O’Hara et al. 2009: 140).
[For other synonyms see Herting (1984: 105, as Eurithia View in CoL ).]
Diagnosis. [This species was redescribed well by Mesnil (1972a: 1060, as Eurythia consobrina ).] The male and female terminalia were illustrated by Zimin (1957, figs 1, 5), Tschorsnig & Herting (1994, Abb. 260), Chao et al. (1998, fig. 3910) and Cerretti (2010: Vol. II, pp. 172–173, figs 3, 8). The mid-dorsal triangular expansion of the male cerci is stronger than in the preceding species and the female 6th abdominal tergite is longer and the 6th sternite bears a narrow mid-ventral longitudinal groove on almost the entire sternite.
Redescription of terminalia. Male: 6th abdominal tergite narrowed and fused with syntergosternite 7+8 middorsally, about 1/8 times as long as latter, with a row of short fine marginal hairs. Female: 6th tergite separated into two hemitergites, each hemitergite weakly narrowed dorsally in lateral view, with rather dense short and strong setae on upper marginal area; 6th sternite long, more than 2 times as long as 6th tergite, with narrow mid ventral groove on entire sternite, bearing dense, rather short setae almost on posterior 2/3; 7th tergite reduced to rather short hemitergites, with short hairs on posterior margin of upper 1/2; 7th sternite separated mid-ventrally into rectangular hemisternites, each with rather short setae on posterior margin; 8th tergite absent; 8th sternite formed of a rather short rectangular sclerite with some short hairs; epiproct absent, replaced by a pair of strong setae.
Material examined from Japan (all in KUM). Hokkaido: 1 female, Mts. Daisetsu, Aizankei , 1000–1800 m, 15–17.vii.1986, Malaise trap, H. Shima ; 1 female, Nukabira, Otofukegawa , 20.vii.1967, H. Shima ; 1 male, Sapporo, Mt. Moiwa , 11.vii.1967, H. Shima .
Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido); China (Gansu, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Liaoning, Ningxia, Shanxi, Xinjiang, Xizang), Europe (northward to Ireland, England, central Sweden), Transcaucasia, Russia (European part, Far East).
Remarks. This species appears to be rare and is known only from Hokkaido in Japan.
