Description of Alcanivorax borkumensis CAU 1685 View in CoL

Cells are Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, and rod shaped. Colonies are white colored after incubation for 3 days on MA at 30° C. In the API 20NE system, positive for esculin hydrolysis and cytochrome oxidase; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized as sole carbon sources. Strain CAU 1685 About CAU (= NIBRBAC000509672) was isolated from a soil sample at Incheon, Republic of Korea .
