In the API 20NE system, positive for esculin hydrolysis and cytochrome oxidase; weakly positive for nitrate reduction; but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase. D-Glucose, D-mannitol, D-maltose, and malic acid are utilized as sole carbon sources; while L-arabinose, D-mannose, N -acetyl-glucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not.
